Welcome to Old Scotch Church
Children/ Youth Ministry!
Meet Brian Gustafson, Children/ Youth Coordinator at Old Scotch ChurchI was born and raised in Tigard, Oregon, where most of my family members currently live. I received my bachelors degree in theology at Whitworth University with a certification in ministry. I got married to my high school sweetheart, Bre, during my senior year in college. We currently reside in the Portland area and enjoy spending our free time with friends, family, and pretty much anything that involves the outdoors.
During my time in college, I discovered my vocational call to ministry, and immediately got involved in a children’s ministry at a local non-denominational church. I also worked as an intern at Youth For Christ; a non-profit organization located in the poorest area of Spokane, Washington. During this time, I lived in a ministry house in the heart of that neighborhood, where youth in the area could come hang out in an effort to provide a safe, loving, and Christ-centered environment. God eventually led me to Colbert Presbyterian, which is where I interned as a youth leader. I gained many valuable friendships and learned a plethora of skills pertaining to youth ministry within a church context. Upon graduating college, I found my call at Old Scotch Church. I came on staff in 2013 as the Children and Youth Ministry Coordinator.
My vision for youth ministry stems from the desire to see the lives of children and youth transformed by the love and hope found in Jesus Christ. It has been such a joy spending time with the children, youth, and families at Old Scotch Church!
Our youth group meets every Sunday from 6:00 – 7:30 PM; gathering with middle school and high school students. On a typical night, you will find us playing a variety of fun games, worshiping together, and listening to a Christ-centered message. We are an inviting group of individuals who desires to grow, learn, and follow Jesus.
